| | If you have read and understand the international student requirements for admission to Alliant’s graduate programs, please start the application process by downloading our printable application, or completing the application online. Both versions are located under Apply. | Requirements for AdmissionInternational graduate students must fulfill the same admission requirements as domestic graduate students. Those international graduate students who studied in universities outside the United States must provide additional documents regarding post-secondary education. They are listed below. Educational RecordsRecords must list the subjects studied, grades or marks received, date of graduation, and degrees, diplomas or certificates received. Educational records must be official. You may provide certified copies.
English TranslationsDocuments in a language other than English must be accompanied by Certified English translations. Translations supplement, but do not replace original documents. Please remember to send both.
TOEFLAny applicant who has not been residing in the US or an English-speaking country since the age of thirteen must submit results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) from the Educational Testing Service (ETS), even if the applicant is now a United States citizen or permanent resident. Applicants taking the TOEFL examination should score at least 600 on the written or 250 on the computerized exam. Alliant's TOEFL code is 4128. The Center for Undergraduate Education and the Marshall Goldsmith School of Management's Division of Business and Management both require a written TOEFL score of 550 for masters and 575 for doctoral applicants.
EvaluationsAn accredited evaluator must evaluate all transcripts from institutions outside the United States. You may also have your transcripts evaluated at our San Diego Campus. Transcripts from English-speaking institutions need not be evaluated. However, the graduate admission committee reserves the right to request an accredited evaluation of a transcript from an English speaking institution during the admission process. International applicants can obtain information concerning accredited evaluators by contacting the System Office.
I-20/ F-1 Student Visa International applicants to the United States are required to provide evidence of financial support for their studies at Alliant. International applicants must file the original International Student Financial Certification Form ("financial guarantee") provided with the application packet. Alliant reserves the right to require advance payment of funds for students from selected countries where a past history of processing student funds has been unsatisfactory. US immigration laws prohibit waivers of financial guarantee.
The financial guarantee certifies that sufficient funds are available for a student (and dependents) for study at the University for at least one academic year, and barring unforeseen circumstances, adequate funding will be available from the same or equally dependable sources for subsequent years for the full course of study. Without this certified information, the I-20 form cannot be issued. The financial guarantee must be current within one year of the student's start date at the University.
Students must also send the University copies of their passports before the I-20 can be issued. Be sure to include the portion that has the student's photograph and personal information.
International Transfer StudentsInternational students are permitted to transfer to a different college or university provided that the approved transfer procedure is followed. If you are transferring to Alliant International University from another school in the United States, please have the school you are presently attending, or last attended, complete an International Student Transfer Verification Form and return it with your completed application material. (The International Student Transfer Verification Form is provided in the application packet.)
